CalculateMine (calculatemine.com) and its publication and club, The Mother Lode, are operated by SINSCENTS LLC, a Massachusetts limited liability company whose sole member is Stephen T Sprague, of Milford, Massachusetts, USA ("we," "us," "our").
This policy explains what information the site handles, where it lives, and the choices and rights you have. It is written in plain language on purpose. If any part of this policy and any summary elsewhere on the site disagree, this policy controls.

When you use the site, your browser stores the following on your device, in local storage. None of it is transmitted to us or to any third party by the site in its current form:
| What | Why | Stored as |
|---|---|---|
| Favorite tools | So your favorites are there when you come back | A list of tool names/IDs |
| Tool and generator history | So you can see what you recently made or calculated (most recent 50 entries) | Type of activity, a short summary, and a timestamp |
| Saved maps and pins | So maps you build or mark up persist | Map data, pin positions and labels, routes, collected-item checkmarks |
| A map image you upload to the bring-your-own map maker | So your map is there when you return | The image and your pins, held only if it fits in browser storage; larger images are session-only |
| Game progress | So features like Ask the Canary remember how they are doing | A small tally |
| Your storage-notice choice | So we do not ask you again on every visit | Your choice ("OK" or "Essential only") |
| Club and subscription records (see Section 2) | As described below | See Section 2 |
| Queued club emails ("outbox") | Draft dispatches composed on your device awaiting a connected email provider | The composed email text and its status |
In addition, the site's service worker (the technology that lets the core tools work offline) stores copies of the site's own pages, scripts and data files in your browser's cache. It stores files of the site, not information about you.
Calculations: every calculation happens locally. Inputs and results are never transmitted.
You control this data. From the account page ("Your Clubhouse") you can export everything stored on your device as a JSON file, or delete it. Deleting removes it from that browser on that device. Because it lives on your device, we cannot delete it for you remotely — there is no copy on our side to delete.
You never need an account or an email address to use any tool. Email enters the picture only if you choose to join The Mother Lode club or take the publication's email.
Signing up creates a pending record only. We send one confirmation email containing a link; clicking that link is what confirms you. The confirmation click is the entire sign-in — there is no password. If you never click, you are not subscribed and you receive nothing further.
Confirmed members receive the updates from The Mother Lode: the publication's stories, the stupid-but-true fact and quote of the day, the Tool of the Day, and new-tool news if selected. That is the whole list. Consistent with the pledge printed on the join form — "No spam. No ads. Just fun and updates." — club and publication emails contain no third-party advertising, and your address is never sold, rented or shared with advertisers or data brokers.
Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and the site's unsubscribe page works without signing in. Unsubscribing stops the emails. We keep the consent record (including the unsubscribe date) as evidence of consent and its withdrawal, as described in Section 6.
As of the effective date of this policy, no email service provider is connected and no sign-in provider is connected. In the current build, join records are stored only in your own browser, no confirmation email is actually sent, and the site says so in plain words at the point of joining. When the email and sign-in providers are connected at launch, records will be held by those providers on our behalf as described in Section 4, cross-device sync of favorites and maps will switch on, and this policy will be updated before that happens.
No giveaway is currently running. If you enter a future giveaway, we will collect the information stated in that giveaway's Official Rules (at minimum, an email address so a winner can be reached and verified, and an age/eligibility confirmation). Giveaway entries held on your device in the current build are listed in the export on the account page. See the Giveaway Official Rules for the full terms of any promotion.
We keep this list short, and we will update it before any new provider is connected:
We do not disclose personal information to anyone else except: (a) with your consent; (b) to comply with a valid legal obligation, court order or lawful government request; (c) to protect the rights, safety or property of SINSCENTS LLC, our users or the public; or (d) in connection with a sale or merger of the business, in which case this policy's commitments will be honored by any successor or the affected users will be notified and given a choice before their information is transferred.
The tools themselves are general-audience and require no personal information. Joining the club or the email list does require meeting a minimum age, and the join form enforces it with a confirmation checkbox before any email address is accepted:
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the applicable minimum age. If you believe a child under that age has joined, contact us at steve@re4rge.com and we will delete the record.
Giveaways, when they run, are 18 or older (age of majority where the entrant lives) under their Official Rules.
Everyone: you can export or delete your on-device data yourself, instantly, from the account page — no request to us is needed, because we do not hold it.
If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you have rights over personal information we hold about you, including rights to: access it; correct it; delete it; restrict or object to its processing; receive it in a portable format; and withdraw consent at any time (withdrawal does not affect processing already lawfully done). Our legal basis for email processing is your consent, captured by double opt-in. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
If you are in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect (Sections 1–3 are that list), to delete it, to correct it, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law, and we do not collect the sensitive categories of personal information. Requests can be made at steve@re4rge.com; for subscription records we will respond within the time the law requires.
If you are in Canada, our email practices follow Canada's anti-spam legislation: we send commercial email only with express consent captured by double opt-in, we identify ourselves in every message, and every message carries a working unsubscribe mechanism.
To exercise any right over records we hold (rather than records on your own device), contact us at steve@re4rge.com. We may need to verify that the request comes from the address on the record.
On-device data is protected by your browser and device. Records held by our providers at launch will be protected by those providers' security measures and transmitted over encrypted connections. No system is perfect; if a breach affecting records we hold occurs, we will notify affected people and regulators as the applicable law requires.
If we change this policy — and connecting the email or sign-in providers at launch will change it — we will post the new version on this page with a new "last updated" date before the change takes effect, and, where the change affects subscribers, we will say so in a dispatch. Material changes will never quietly reduce the pledge: no spam, no ads, no sale of your information.
This policy is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, USA, without prejudice to the mandatory rights you hold where you live.
