This site sets no tracking cookies. It runs no analytics and no advertising technology. The Mother Lode's own colophon says it plainly — "sets no cookies and runs no tracking" — and this notice is the detail behind that sentence.
In the current build, the site's own code does not write a single browser cookie. What it does use is your browser's local storage and cache, on your device, to make the site work the way you asked it to. Here is all of it:
| Storage | What it holds | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Local storage — favorites | The tools you starred | Your favorites persist between visits |
| Local storage — history | Your recent generator/tool activity (last 50) | Your history list on the account page |
| Local storage — subscription & club records | Your email, consent record (time, page, wording version, region/age confirmation, status), optional name, preferences, queued dispatches | Double opt-in joining, stored on your device in the current build until the email provider connects at launch |
| Local storage — maps & game progress | Saved maps, uploaded map images, pins, routes, collected-item checkmarks, game tallies | Your work persists between visits |
| Local storage — this notice | Your choice: "OK" or "Essential only" | So we do not ask on every visit |
| Cache storage — service worker | Copies of the site's own pages, scripts, data files and fonts configuration | The core tools work offline after your first visit, and pages load fast |
None of this identifies you to us, follows you to other sites, or is shared with anyone. It never leaves your device in the current build. When sign-in launches, favorites and maps will sync to your account only if you sign in — and this notice and the Privacy Policy will be updated first.
The notice bar offers OK and Essential only. Honest disclosure: in the current build, everything listed above is functional storage for features you actively use (favorites, maps, joining), and both choices currently leave those features working — the choice is stored and honored as the site's consent baseline, and it will govern any future optional storage or provider features before they are switched on. If you want everything gone right now regardless of the choice: the account page's Delete my data button wipes the site's local storage on this device, and your browser's own site-data controls do the same.
If this ever changes — a real analytics tool, a connected email or sign-in provider adding its own storage — this notice will be updated before the change is switched on, and the notice bar will ask again.
The Mother Lode publication pages (calculatemine.com/blog) store even less: no local storage, no cookies, no tracking — the daily rotation is computed from the date in your browser and nothing is recorded.
