Grammy Nominations Land November 16 — and for the First Time Since 1972, the Show Belongs to ABC
The 69th Grammy nominations are announced Monday, November 16, at 7:45 a.m. ET, livestreamed on Grammy.com and the Grammys' YouTube channel. The ceremony itself, on February 7, is the Grammys' first on ABC since 1972 — and the early album-of-the-year talk is a two-Olivia argument.
The 2027 Grammy race becomes official on Monday, November 16 — and the show it feeds has already changed networks for the first time in more than fifty years. The Recording Academy announces the nominations for the 69th Grammy Awards starting at 7:45 a.m. ET (4:45 a.m. PT), livestreamed on Grammy.com and the Grammys' YouTube channel, with the full list posted immediately after.
Everything being argued about until then is forecast. After 7:45 a.m., it is a field.
The window that built the field
This year's nominees come from recordings released between August 31, 2025 and August 28, 2026 — the eligibility window is the setlist this whole night gets drawn from. Entries closed August 21, and the Academy's voting members cast first-round ballots from October 12 to 22. Final-round voting, the round that decides winners, runs December 10, 2026 through January 7, 2027. No host has been announced for the ceremony yet; that is a separate announcement, and the Academy hasn't made it.
The broadcast move, credited properly
The ceremony itself is Sunday, February 7, 2027, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles — and it will not be on CBS. After more than fifty years on that network, the Grammys move to ABC under a ten-year deal that starts with this edition, with a simulcast across Disney+ and Hulu. It is the show's first broadcast on ABC since 1972.
Credit the sidemen, because the deal has them: the two streamers riding alongside the broadcast network are owned by the same parent, which makes the ceremony a three-screen act — network, Disney+, Hulu — and that shape, broadcast plus in-house streaming, is the one every major ceremony is now expected to take. The Grammys are the last of the big awards shows to re-sell their broadcast rights in the streaming era. This is a business story wearing a music story's clothes, and the audience number on February 8 will be quoted in every future negotiation of this kind.
The early race, labelled as one
Every field has its forecasters, and the loudest early read comes from Variety, which has album of the year shaping into a contest between two Olivias — Olivia Rodrigo and Olivia Dean. Treat that as informed speculation, not a field: the Academy's roughly thirteen thousand voting members have surprised forecasters before, and the general-field categories are exactly where surprises live. What November 16 settles is who actually has to campaign.
